I want to tell you a story that is very close to my heart and kindles the fire of awe within me when I think about it.  It has all the qualities of a miracle and a blessing from our Father.
I lost my father at age two to a car wreck.  At age five, I was blessed with a wonderful step father.  I have five brothers and sisters, and I was treated better than his blood children.  He has left this life but is not forgotten.
My mother told me little about my real father over the years.  Caroll and I have always been interested in family history.  Researching and traveling in search of that history is something we love to do together.  About eight years ago, I began asking my mother for information about my real father.  She had little to tell and only one picture to share.  I did learn one important fact that opened the door to discovery.  I learned that he was born and raised in Cross Plains, Texas.  I searched the internet and found nothing.  I think it was the summer of 2005 that we decided to take a trip to San Antonio, and take a side trip to Baird, Texas, the county seat for the county Cross Plains is in.  Thus begins the miracle journey.
At the county court house in Baird, we found my father's birth record.  That was interesting in itself, but we decided to drive to the small town of Cross Plains and check around for any Newtons living there.  We drove through the town and could not find access to a phone book.  On a whim, we stopped at the little newspaper office there.  A lady that worked at the paper was walking in to the office when we pulled up.  I told her what our mission was and she said a man with the last name of Newton had just moved into town a short time back from the country.  His name is Dewit Newton.  I didn't connect it, but Caroll did.  Caroll said, that is your father's cousin and best friend your mother told us about. I was shocked. No way!  This has to be someone else. My mother is in her seventies, I told the newspaper lady.Do you think  he is around that same age.  Probably in that area, she replied.  She knew where he lived, and gave us directions.  What a so-called coincidence or, as I now know, a part of God's miracle that she would be walking in at the very moment we drove up and would know this information we needed.
Caroll and I followed the directions to his home.  I parked in the street in front of the home.  We both walked up to the door and knocked.  A lady answered.  I asked if this is where Dewit Newton lives.  She said, yes, he is outside.  Let me get him.  At that moment, a man walked into the living room and looked at me standing in the doorway.  He stood there with big eyes like he was looking at a ghost and exclaimed, you're Grady's boy!  My heart jumped out of my body as I said, yes, I am.  He got a big smile on his face and walked over to me and shook my hand.  Within a very few minutes, Caroll and I were looking through a box of my family pictures with Dewit.  He was really excited and talked and talked.  I saw my dad... I saw my great great grandparents that were immigrants from Holland.  After a while we ended the visit with picture taking and hugs.  I told Dewit we would return and call and all the family type stuff.
We drove off into the sunset toward San Antonio in total awe of what had just transpired.  When we arrived back home in Oklahoma, I told my mother all about our meeting with Dewit.  Soon, after that, I called Dewit.
It seems that just two hours after our visit, God took Dewit home to him. Our hearts sank.  Dewit had given me his sisters phone number that lived in Cross Plains.  I called her.  Evidently, Dewit had been living to see me then his life had been fulfilled, and an empty portion of me had been filled.
What miracles our Father gives us if we but ask.

We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!
Luke 15:32

For those who have faith...in death there is life everlasting.  Amen

I spoke to a good friend of mine today only to hear his daughter, in her early 30's, may have cancer.  His children are like nieces and nephews to us.  Our children grew up together.  The news was devastating.
There is a good side to this story.  We both agreed the first and foremost action is prayer.  We both believe deeply in the power of prayer.  It has kept a couple of old sinners like us around years beyond what should have been the case.  We need Prayers.  We need the prayers of all who read this.  People all over the world read this blog.  We need all your prayers our sisters and brothers in Christ the Lord.  You do not know the person I speak of, but our Father, God, does and will know whom you pray for.  Just pray with faith and let our Father take care of the rest.
I know there are those of you praying that have health issues of your own.  Fellow Saints, let us pray for one another to experience our Lord's healing as we pray for his daughter.  NO Prayer goes unanswered.  If you have faith, the healing is coming your way... maybe in a way you least expect it.  Do not hope for a miracle.  Pray...then expect a miracle for we are praying to our Father, God of all creation.  He who created all things and uses the world as his footstool also takes the time to love and answer our every prayer.  Prayer with faith heals.

Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.
Matthew 15:28

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 17:20

Wow!  How God makes life interesting.  The obstacles he throws in your path...or, at least, they at first appear to be obstacles.  In the long run, if we peer deeply into past events, we can see how this or that made us stronger and, actually, became a blessing.  Oh my!  What he is throwing at me and probably you at this very moment.  This is the moment we need to put it in our Father's hands. He wants us to rely on him not man made idols.  It is not easy at first, but, with faith, you can begin.  He wants us to relax and enjoy this life he has given to us.  He designed and created this life, and his will shall be done.  He always walks beside us and before us.
I sat under the stars tonight.  The world around me slept.  It was just myself and our Father.  How beautiful is his creation.  How beautiful is He.  We talked.  He had stilled the winds and made the stars extra bright while he listened to my "what have you put on me this time" speech.  I felt him smile and place his arms around me as we talked.  I know he is in control and would never let evil overcome me.  You and I are special.  We have been called to be Christians to carry out our Lord's work.  Whatever we may do, He will be with us and guide us to his glorious work.  In being servants to him, who is master of all, we become as kings and queens. In deserts we bloom, the snows melt around us, we fill dry riverbeds with life giving water, we bring comfort to those filled only with worry all by serving our Lord. Be still and quiet.  Ask and listen for his guidance.  If you have faith, he will never refuse you.  It may not come in the exact form you envisioned, but it shall come.  God is a river unto his children.

And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail
Isaiah 58:11

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

When our Father, God, says he is with us, he means exactly that.  The same for our Lord and Savior and the son of God, Jesus Christ, what he says he means.  When you become a Christian, you put yourself, through your faith, under the protection and divine guidance of our Lord Jesus.  Never forget, nobody comes to the son that the Father, God, has not sent.  If you are reading this, you have been chosen.  God has sent you by way of this guide post.
