DON'T LEAVE GOD AT CHURCH ON SUNDAY

I like to remind myself regularly not to leave God at church on Sunday. God does not live in church and greet you when you come in, talk to you, and then say goodbye when you leave. God is in all things, at all times, in all places. God is God. He is with you all week long. Greet him when you wake in the morning, talk with him about issues affecting your life, share your joy and sorrow with him, and say goodnight when you are going to sleep. And remember, he will watch over you throughout the night.

Is life dull and boring? Then you need ask God for a mission, a purpose. I guarantee that he will spice up your life. But do it!

Life does not have to be routine. In fact, if you serve our Lord, life is full of action and adventure. Get to know God. Spend some quality time with him. He certainly knows all about you and is longing for you to know him. Serve as he served during his time upon this earth in human form. With God, life is coming hard at you, my brothers and sisters. In God's eyes, you are just as important as a king or a president...maybe more important. Remember the people he hung around with when living in human form. Why wouldn't he love you and assign you an important task? Drop the fear. When God is with you, who can stand against you?

RECEIVING A PRAYER REQUEST

When someone asks you to pray for them or someone they know suffering or for protection while traveling, etc, do you? If you do not - then start now. A person asking for prayer from a fellow Christian means they are honoring you and trusting you to ask God for assistance on their or someone's behalf.

As Jesus teaches us in scripture, do not get real wordy like the pagans with the prayers for God knows what is in our heart before we pray; after all, he is God. Pagans think that the longer the prayer, the better chance that their so-called God will hear and answer. Our God is the living God of the living. He is not deaf. He is not persuaded by long hours of ceaseless begging. He hears and answers immediately or begins the process of helping. We may not see the process going on or receive help in the exact way we as humans think it should be, but God hears and answers. Let him do his work - his will.

So, keep in the forefront of your thoughts always that God is infinitely smarter and hears infinitely better than we do. Put your trust in God, not people. He will never disappoint us. Pray for his will to be done, not yours, and as Jesus instructed us, pray with faith and it shall be done.

CHIEF CRAZY HORSE

HOKAY HEY, IT IS A GOOD DAY TO DIE

Hokay Hey is an American Sioux Indian phrase made famous by Crazy Horse, the Sioux Indian's greatest warrior chief. The phrase means it is a good day to die. Sounds lurid until one thinks deeply about it. When a day is the kind of day that it is good to die, that means it is a great day. As Christians at one with God, everyday should be a Hokay Hey day.

Think it over. Are you worrying, stressed out? Lean on our Lord and leave the worrying to him. After all, he made every day and every second within each day, and he didn't make it this way just to torture us or make us miserable. He made each day to carry out his will, and gave us eternal life as the reward for living each of his wonderful days with great faith and spiritual joy by knowing that everything is going to be just fine.

THE MANY, THE FEW

Everywhere I turn
I see people crying, dying, in misery, in agony
Every morning when I wake
I hear news of tragedy, calamity, fallen humanity
Every time I walk down the street
     I see poverty, disparity, imparity
Throughout the day
It's dependence, interdependence, interdependency on technology
I feel people
     Bleeding desperation, despondency, discouragement

I turn to Jesus
Why don't you help these traumatized, these idol worshiping...?
Jesus turns to me
Very well, send them to me
I send them
A few go, a few scoff, a few love anguish, a few are tech deaf, a few are material blind
Jesus takes the few who come
The few will strengthen, the few will overcome this world
Like a sore thumb
The few will stick out before this world
Like an eagle
The few will soar above all humanity

Everywhere I turn
There still comes crying, dying, miserable people
Every Morning when I wake
     I hear the tragic news
Every time I walk  down the street
     I see poverty, disparity, imparity
Throughout the day
It's...you know what, you see what, you hear what

Exceptions are the few
Those few choosing life over death, love over hate, hope over despair
Food - those redeemed few
Marinated in grace, cooked in love, devoured by the Holy Spirit of God
Among the Angels, those few
Heeding the invitation to trade mankind's defects for God's holy clothing
Eternal life those few
Who cry yet for the many

Heavy Burdens

As a Christian, God puts his heaviest burdens on his most faithful. If you are a new Christian, remember this, when God lays a burden upon us, he is always there to help you with the load if you just ask. He does not want you to carry it alone. Lean on him. This is what faith is all about, knowing and believing in God and letting him help you with the life-burdens he heaps upon us. Being a Christian does not mean a perfect life. To be a Christian is to be assured of a heavy burden, but to carry it with spiritual joy in your heart which makes you a glory to God.

Trust God, not mankind. Amen
