Pigs Serve Our Lord

Within Matthew 8: 28-34, we see our Lord casting out demons from a gentile into a nearby herd of pigs.  Here we are witness to another example of our Lord having command over and using for his purpose all things when he makes the pigs fly down to the sea to their deaths.  That pigs might fly down a hill to their deaths is not animal cruelty anymore than Stephen being stoned to death for his faith is human cruelty.  Jesus was not torturing them for his enjoyment.  The pigs and Stephen went to their deaths for our Lord’s teaching and thus our Father’s glory.  No matter what the method nor the result, we should rejoice to be used for our Father’s purposes. We are his tools to use to spread and proclaim his word and his glory.  He shall honor and reward us through eternal life in him.  We are taught by his word so that we may have faith, and, with that faith, we shall become new and accept the missions he sets before us with love and thankfulness.  We shall love when no love is deserved.  We shall forgive when no forgiveness is deserved.  We shall show compassion when none is deserved.  These acts we shall do from his love, forgiveness, and compassion for us, the undeserving.
